Correct usage of “This Side” in a phone conversation

0

I have heard people using

"This side James, here"

"This side James"

for example, when someone starts talking on a phone call.

I wanted to check if any of the above is a correct usage of English?

  • To say what? To say This side, James. Here. ?

  • Example: When someone starts talking on a call

  • You should add all the context to the question. It is very hard to guess that that sentence was being used to answer a phone call.

  • I will take that as feedback but would you mind answering the question since you have all the context now?

  • I cannot answer the question. I have never used or seen that way of answering the phone. By this I don't mean that it is not used, only that I haven't seen it. It is clear to me that there are many ways to answer a phone, and that many are just incomplete shortenings of properly formed sentences. I answer the phone saying Yes! or Hey! if the caller ID shows me someone that I know.
