Is it common to drop “are” and “is” in informal english?

Image
up vote 0 down vote favorite I've noticed that many native speakers drop the words "are" and "is" when writing informally. For example: • how you doing? (instead of "how are you doing") • what you up to? (Instead of "what are you up to") • what you doing? (Instead of "what are you doing") How common is this and is it okay to speak like that in informal situations? grammar share | improve this question asked 19 mins ago A. S 1 New contributor

up vote 0 down vote favorite I attempted to install the latest version of Ubuntu, on my laptop which had Windows 7 on it: the installation procedure went fine, it was right at the end when update-grub collapsed. Now it's stuck with this message: GNU GRUB Version 2.02~ beta 2-9 Minimal BASH-like line editing is supported. For the first word, TAB lists possible command completions. Anywhere else TAB lists possible device or file completions. grub>_ None of the options in the boot menu are successfull. boot dual-boot grub2 share | improve this question edited Oct 12 '15 at 16:10 kos 25.
