    Input/output errors are bad news. 1) Test for dying hardware - Look up how to run a SMART test on your hard drive. 2) Test for corrupted filesystem - boot from a LiveUSB (or Recovery Mode) and run fsck.

  • i did the SMART test and my test didn't pass. I also run fsck on next reboot, but it didn't fixed it. Will reinstalling ubuntu fixed the dying hardware problem? I am not sure if its the hardware problem, because my laptop is just few months old.
