Ubuntu GPIO Export Fails. What am I missing?

0

I am working with utilizing some GPIO pins on an SBC (Parallella).

As a first test, I decided to manually configure some GPIO pins.

For example:

echo 54>/sys/class/gpio/export

My understanding is that this should create a directory /sys/class/gpio/gpio54, where the direction, value, etc. for the pin can be set.

I get no error messages, followed by a prompt. When I ls afterward, I can see that the gpio54 directory hasn't been created. I searched using the find command and it doesn't seem to have been created anywhere else.

I have done all of this with root privilege. Re-flashing my SD card with a fresh copy of Ubuntu doesn't seem to help.

What am I missing?
