While I try install Ubuntu 16.04 LTS USBs do not work after a while. So I cannot continue the setup

0

My problem is at the Grub Screen, sometimes I can reach the setup screen (I mean the setup screen where we set hard disk partitions, country etc.), or it becomes stuck at Ubuntu setup initializing screen (initializing screen which shows Ubuntu logo). In setup screen, USBs stop working after 30-40 seconds. So, my bootable USB Drive stops working and setup does not continue. My computer features;

i7 7700HQ
GTX 1050
256 GB SSD
8GB DDR4 2400MHz RAM
No DVD ROM Drive

Brand/Model name: Monster Abra A5 10.1 Gaming laptop

I tried on both USB 3.0 and 2.0 and have the same problem. Different USB drives are tried, but no solution.

  • Did you verify your ISO download ? (even 1 bit wrong & it's problems which take hours-days to diagnoze; so the seconds it takes is great insurance) & verify your USB-thumb-drive (on another system if that intended system is unreliable for this purpose). If not I'd not go further & do them now. Next it sounds to me like a failing component and I'd do a cap-check & check for signs of overheating etc... I'd suggest testing your hardware (maybe it's dying usb circuitry?) My 2c

  • Thanks for your comment. I have tried the usb drive on three different computers even one has pentium 4 661 and it works great. I have installed ubuntu with no problem. So, ISO works correctly. Also usb drive works fine. On my computer, Windows 10 runs perfectly there is no problem with usb inputs. All of them work fine.

  • You're misinterpreting a freeze and graphical glitches as "USB not working". It's not so. The problem is your Nvidia graphics card that has poor support from the open-source driver. The workaround is to use nomodeset to boot the media, install them use it again when booting the installed system until you finally install the Nvidia drivers.

  • Thanks for your comment. I can open Ubuntu with "Use Ubuntu without installing" option and there is no glitches or graphical issues. I can reach desktop but again USBs stop working after a while. But I will try nomodeset command while installing Ubuntu.
