Yumdownloader failed

My present location is /etc and i am doing yumdownloader vlc it output some error with errno 256 No mirrors to try but same command is working while I execute that same command when my location is ~/Downloads or ~/Desktop.
Why it is happening.?

  • In order to download/install a file to a location in the root filesystem, you must give the command root permissions by prefacing it with sudo. Or else use apt instead of yumdownloader like this: sudo apt install vlc

  • Does “apt” works in fedora or RPM based linux.. i guess its only works with deb based linux. May be i am wrong..

  • Depending on the version of Fedora, you should install vlc with either dnf or yum
