I have pretty old Acer switch 10 tablet with windows 10 x32 aboard. I can't change it to x64 due to uefi x32 bios, but found webuefi project that says it may install linux x64 in file containers inside ntfs partition.

As you could see in post https://github.com/hakuna-m/wubiuefi/issues/135
I was able to setup ubuntu 18.4.2
Installation was ok until "Can't install Grub-efi-ia32 into target" error - it was about 2/3 of installation progress.

Although restart shown ready to use ubuntu desktop, I experience strange behaviour:

Firefox almost freezes the device opening simple pages like Opera download, saying that there is a long running script, opera does not install due to unknown error, etc.

Do you know how to :

1) check installed ubuntu for errors (e.g. missing packages)

2) install and fix everything that setup wizard did not do?

3) how to make file containers where ubuntu is installed (how they are properly named? Virtual disks? Loop devices?) larger?
Now there is only 256 mb swap - too small I think.

Thanks in advance!

  • You mention the 2018.October release (18.10) in your heading (there is no 18.10.2) but then talk of 18.04 (2018.April release) in your question body. To check for missing packages sudo apt -f install which will fix & report missing packages. I don't know what you mean in your 3) other than file-system
