Ok I have fixed the problem that I was having about being unable to
install Guest Additions on VirtualBox in Windows XP guest, I am so glad, I will explain...
because I have been trying to install Windows XP Service Pack 1
into VirtualBox and every time the installation is complete the icons
and the task bar at the bottom of the screen looks wrong and nothing
wanted to work properly which included the guest additions installer from
the guest additions iso but then I found an old Service Pack 2 upgrade iso
for upgrade only to upgrade service pack 1 to service pack 2 and I tried it
out and luckily enough it accepted the installer and the installation started running to upgrade to service pack 2 when it was complete I restarted and tried the guest additions installer again and it started running first time without any
problems.

Slow down a bit and explain what you are doing a little more carefully. What is hosting Virtual PC? What is the guest OS? Be specific as possible. Countless people have installed vpc guest additions over the years, so let's try and determine what is so special here.

  • Ok the version of VirtualBox that I am using is 5.0.14 r105127 I asked someone on this site for a link to download the guest additions for that version if you are trying to install winxp pro sp1 because the guest additions was not included when I downloaded free version of virtual box from a google website one has to download them separately for each OS you are trying to install and the link he gave me was the correct version of the file and everything but for some reason virtual box does not want to accept it as explained in my post, any help would be great, thanks.
