Ubuntu File Manager How To Change User When Asked For Password

0

So lost... I have researched and researched but I don't know enough about what to research. I'll try to make this simple

-I have a Folder on a NAS Hard Drive I need access to. Power loss ruined the firmware.

-The Hard Drive is now attached directly to my laptop.

-NO WINDOWS BASED PROGRAM IS ABLE TO ACCESS THIS HARD DRIVE SO I CAN PULL MY FILES OFF IT. UFS got me 1 file. 650k file took 30 minutes. I have 60GB I need to get at.

-Tried GPARTED LIVE and I can see the volume but I cannot IMG it.

-Now I have UBUNTU and the native File Manager is able to get further than anything else I have tried. I can access the MNT folder and see the folder I need but it has a LOCK symbol on it. When I try to access the folder it uses my UBUNTU login and asks for my password. I think all I need is to change the login to "admin" so I can get into the folder...

-HOW DO I CHANGE THE LOGIN??

  • LINKSTATION PRO 2TB, SGI XFS filesystem.

Thank you for your time!!!

  • And when you supply the password what happens?

  • It fails... because it is using my UBUNTU login ID.

  • Actually, I don't precisely know why it is failing but the file manager will not allow me to change the ID. I didn't think to add the information below because I didn't want to muddy the waters but here goes.

  • Power failure messed up the firmware so I attempted to reinstall the firmware but that didn't work. However, I was able to reset the NAS password back to default. admin password. Then, when I wasn't unable to go any further I pulled the drive and tried to access it directly. All the passwords I have are for the ID "admin", not my UBUNTU ID. I'm reaching here.
