Installing PhpUnit with Zend 3 fails with “Cannot get DOMDocument; no document registered”

I am trying to install PHPUnit in my Zend Project.
I run the command ./vendor/bin/phpunit --stderr, but I am getting this error:
ApplicationTestControllerIndexControllerTest::testIndexActionViewModelTemplateRenderedWithinLayout
ZendDomExceptionRuntimeException: Cannot get DOMDocument; no document registered
What's the problem and how can I fix it?
