Sound failing on recent Ubuntu 18.04 install

My sound has suddenly stopped working several weeks after a dual-boot installation of Ubuntu 18.04. I've checked all of my settings and everything appears to be normal (audio output appears to be occurring on pavucontrol, nothing muted, etc.), and have tried multiple fixes that I found online, but nothing seems to be working. I've attached some screenshots of what I'm seeing, any ideas?

sound settings

lspci

pavu

Edit: To make things even stranger, I discovered that the sound will work for a few seconds upon waking the computer up from sleep, before getting increasingly distorted and failing alltogether. I'm assuming the same is true for restarts but that by the time it boots fully and I log in that it has already turned off.
