RapidIO Subsystem Support in Ubuntu

0

We are going to be releasing a RapidIO NIC this summer and I we are trying to make everything as plug and play as possible.

We know that the RapidIO subsystem for Linux has been mainlined in recent kernels. We will be mainlining our driver in a few months.

What would we need to be do so that an Ubuntu 18.04 or later workstation would be able to use this support? I would prefer not require that the user have to rebuild the kernel from source.

Thanks

  • More info needed. What is "RapidIO NIC"? What "subsystem"? What "driver"? What "support"? Most users can't/won't build a kernel from source.
