Can't boot 18.04 with ryzen 5 2500u and vega 8

I'm trying to install Ubuntu 18.04 on my HP Envy x360 15-cp0xxx with a Ryzen 5 2500u and vega 8 mobile graphics.

I was able to boot and install by adding the nomodeset boot flag.

I've updated to kernel 4.17.19 and mesa 18.2 but still no luck.

Booting without any flags gives the following error:

amd_gpio AMDI0030: Failed to get gpio IRQ: -22

tpm_crb MSFT0101:00: can't request region for resource [mem 0x9d074000-0x9d074fff]

Couldn't get size: 0x8000000000000e
