Problem using secret-tool as root

When using secret-tool as root, e.g. by



sudo secret-tool store --label='password' key value


I encounter the following issue:



(secret-tool:3394): GLib-GObject-CRITICAL **: 15:45:12.811: g_object_unref: assertion 'G_IS_OBJECT (object)' failed

secret-tool: Error calling StartServiceByName for org.freedesktop.secrets: Timeout was reached


I have no problem using secret-tool as non-privileged user. I'm running Ubuntu 18.10 x64 and XFCE. Any ideas? Thanks!
