Company 2006 % Market Share 2007 % Market Share

HP

31.4 34
Dell 16.6 20.2
Acer 11.6 10.7
Toshiba 6.2 7.3
Lenovo 6.6 6.2
Fujitsu- Siemens 4.8 2.3
Others 22.8 19.3
Total 100 100

The table compares the worldwide market share of notebook computer manufacturers during two successive years, 2006 and 2007.

As can be seen from the table, HP was the leading company in market share for both 2 years, whereas Fujitsu-Siemens only held the smallest percentage of market sharing.

From the table, it is clear that Dell increased markedly its market share from 16.6% in 2006 to just over 20% in 2007. However, this figure was the second following HP’s sharing percentage, 34% in 2007 which grew up slightly from just over one third in 2006. Besides, there was a rise in Toshiba’s share, though not much, from 6.2% to 7.3%.

According to the table, other notebook manufacturers saw its significant fall in market share, from 22.8% to 19.3%, which made their sales the third – after both HP and Dell. The figure for market share of Fujitsu – Siemens in 2007, 2.3% was around half of it, 4.8% in 2006. Acer did not reduce considerably from 11.6% to just over a tenth. And there was a small drop of 0.4 % in the sharing of Lenovo from 6.6% in 2006.
