force / restore certain screen resolution
Is there a quick way (under both Ubuntu-MATE 16.04 and 18.04) to restore a previous screen configuration for all 3 monitors? (Laptop built-in and 2 externals)
My problem is, that I have two UHD (3840 x 2160) monitors, but my slightly dated laptop (thinkpad X230) won't allow both at that resolution, so I run them both at regular full HD (half of the above). – no problem with that! (fancier laptop on another day)
However after 'energy saving' and similar occasions, the first monitor gets turned on again in its max resolution, and the second then basically fails...
...so every time I have to perform a little ‘dance’ to get back to what I want. Everyone coexisting at regular full HD:
Is there a better solution? Either force max resolution onto certain, known screens, or a script (which I will link to a keyboard shortcut) that slams in the prior setup (which I backed up before,when my screens where in a good state, whereever that config resides...).
