Okay so when i turn on my personal computer i log in normally but when i get into my account the desktop is not there , i can only see the wallpaper the launcher is still there and i can use all of my programs but when i go to desktop it does not respond.
This all happened after i installed gnome and removed it.
i have already tried:
sudo su
apt-get update
apt-get install --reinstall ubuntu-desktop
apt-get install --reinstall unity
apt-get remove --purge nvidia*
apt-get install nvidia-current
reboot
but it did not work

From your description it sounds like things are OK, with the launcher and desktop background showing. Could you explain what you mean bywhen i go to desktop it does not respond
? Perhaps include a picture if possible.
