Gnome with cifs net home directory

0

We want to set up Ubuntu 18.04 boxes with windows shares as the users home directories. The homes are mounted correctly via pam_mount (mount.cifs) but the users are not able to change gnome settings e.g. the keyboard layout or the dock settings.
I noticed that some utilities (e.g. gnome-keyring-daemon or indicator-keyboard-service) are running as root so they get no access to the user's home directory which is located on the windows net share.
Is there a workaround? May be it it possible to map the root access for the share to user's permission or let the utilities run as the user?
