Updating gtksourceview

I was trying to install plugins for gedit from github repository in ubuntu 16.04. When I run ./configure it says:
Requested 'gtksourceview-3.0 >= 3.21.3' but version of gtksourceview is 3.20.4
I tried to download and build gtksourceview from ftp.gnome.org but it didn't work. How can I update gtksourceview for 3.21.3 version in ubuntu 16.04?

The easiest way to get the latest gtksourceview is to use the latest distro, namely Ubuntu 18.04, or 18.12
