Which sentence is better? “How many people are there here?” vs “How many people are here?”
I would like to know which sentence in the title is better or more acceptable.
"How many people are there here?" vs "How many people are here?"
I know that many people say the latter is common but I think that the former is grammatically correct because we often say "There are five people here" when asked how many people there are in the location.
