Too Many Redirects (More than Twenty) for Public Wifi

Good evening!
I am trying to connect to a public wifi network at a coffee shop. My Ubuntu system is the latest LTS (18.04, I think), and the computer recognizes that it should pull up a network login page but then it says "Load cannot follow more than 20 redirections." I have tried to no avail every single answer to similar questions on the following threads:
Cannot log in to public open Wifi connection
https://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2232412
I have been unable to find other threads that address this issue directly specifically for Ubuntu (there are quite a few for Mac and Google, but those also do not help). Does anyone have a different tact I could try? Thanks!
Wireless is neither soft nor hard blocked
Results of the command lsusb:
Bus 002 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0003 Linux Foundation 3.0 root hub
Bus 001 Device 003L ID 8087:0a2b Intel Corp.
Bus 001 Device 002: ID 58f6 Realtek Semiconductor Corp.
