Weird behaviour about password prompts and permissions in Lubuntu 18.04
I am having a strange behaviour with Lubuntu 18.04 fully updated machine.
I try to use software application (system tools -> software) to install some application. Say for example Raincat. When I click install it shows me error "Unable to install Raincat:you do not have permission to install software." I remember in the past it used to prompt for password.
I am also having problems installing .deb packages using the "Package installer". The window closes and nothing happens.
The system application called "Software & Updates" (software-properties-gtk) is also behaving quite weird. There are a lot of checkboxes but clicking on them to check or uncheck does nothing. When I run this program from the command line it gives an error when I do one of the clicks
ERROR:root:Authentication canceled, changes have not been saved
I think this has something to do with the password prompts. In the past it used to prompt me for passwords, now it doesn't and simply fails or throw an invisible error.
Any help to solve this problem is appreciated
