Dual monitors via VGA splitter
I have a small laptop with two monitors connected with a VGA splitter. Is it possible to use the two monitors as an extended desktop or as dual screens?
At the moment, they are just copies. I have tried enabling 'detect displays when connected' but no info when connecting/disconnecting.

Those devices are usually used to display the same signal on multiple monitors. There are devices that tile the input and send each tile to a different monitor. These were traditionally used for video walls, but there are models built exactly for the purpose of connecting two displays via one port, like the Matrox DualHead series. Keep in mind, though, that the whole resolution of both displays needs to be transmitted as one signal and the maximum resolution of your VGA output is limited.
