Ubuntu 18.04 Disabling Hybrid Graphics!
My 18.04 install did not go very smoothly.
Many things failed on my HP laptop dv4-3029tx
I had to partition the HDD on another system. The install refused to erase or partition it.
The wifi refused to connect.
The graphics kept randomly flipping/rotating. The laptop does not even have motion sensors!!!
The two hybrid graphics cards continually fight over the screen. I get 10 seconds of Intel Graphics (where I can see some output) and then about a minute of black screen when the Radeon chip steals the screen. Actually I'm assuming which card is giving me the good output. I don't know!
So I can type for 10 seconds every minute in an upside down window.
I can hear the laughter already!!! :() But wait there's more.
Plus the mouse coordinates are not inverted. The screen is but the mouse isn't! So I have to guess where to point and click. Thank goodness some buttons change colo(u)r as you hover over them!!!
Now to get myself going I have had to boot to recovery mode where the graphics is stable but only at 1024x768 res.
I need some help disabling one of the two hybrid graphics cards. I found a lot posts regarding hybrid switching that don't really address the screen stealing issue!
There is no option in the laptop bios to disable either of the graphics cards!!!
I don't mind which one I disable as long as I can get a stable system.
I am on the net with a physical cable. Thank someone that works!!!
Any help appreciated!
