Unity3D 2018.3 crashes while debugging

0

I've been doing some work with Unity3D, installed through the Unity Hub, in Ubuntu 18.04.
After I ran the built-in installer I wrote a simple installer to install all other required (and some not so required) packages that the Unity staff outlined here, and finally the Unity debugger for VSCode. With all that installed, I started working and debugging my game.

But, I've gotten to the point where whenever I try to debug Unity just locks up and crashes. One thing I noticed is that Unity always crashes at the same line in the same function;

public static float ColorConverter(string colorCode)
{
char colorIndex = colorCode.ToCharArray();
List<float> colorList = new List<float>();

string tempString = "";
for (int i = 0; i < colorCode.Length; i++)
{
tempString += colorIndex[i];

if (tempString.Length == 2)
{
int tempnum = Convert.ToInt32(tempString, 16);
colorList.Add(Mathf.Lerp(0, 1, tempnum));
tempString = "";
}
}

float retColor = colorList.ToArray();
return retColor;
}

And the specific line unity crashes on is int tempnum = Convert.ToInt32(tempString, 16);, so I'm not sure if that is something to take note of.

Edit; I tried changing the type with the line int tempnum = Int32.Parse(tempString, System.Globalization.NumberStyles.HexNumber); but there was no change in the outcome
