Ubuntu trying to login with admin account? [on hold]

Decided to give Ubuntu a chance, and it was going pretty well. It had managed to be a stable operating system and not crash for more than 30 seconds; until it crashed.
When the system booted back up, I only have the option to login with admin account which I’ve never used or know the password to?
EDIT: when typing the correct password for user developer (not admin) I get ‘Failed to start session’ instead of ‘Incorrect Password
Oh yah, and Ubuntu has removed all my internet access 😂

Which Ubuntu were you using? Skipping the flavors, server? desktop? Did you verify your install media? (if you didn't your install may not be reliable if your download was flawed, or write-to-media failed)

I downloaded it from the official Ubuntu site. I’m using Desktop version. I use the same installation media on my laptop, and that works fine. Thanks.

I was assuming you were from an official site, I was asking if you verified the download (tutorials.ubuntu.com/tutorial/tutorial-how-to-verify-ubuntu) or skipping that, after write-to-thumb-drive (or whatever) that you validated the install-media before install (using the check-install option, ttps://help.ubuntu.com/community/Installation/CDIntegrityCheck). I consider this cheap insurance, if either download or write-to-media fails, you're looking at hours+ of diagnosing issues that can be fixed in 60-90 secs with this

I didn’t, I wasn’t aware that was a thing until now. Although the same media is on my other machine and has worked fine since day one if that counts for anything.

Another update which may be useful to know, when attempting a fix I found I saw ‘lsb_release command not found’ which seemed like an important message
