bash: /etc/profile.d/vte.sh: Permission denied

0

I'm getting an error when I open a terminal saying:

bash: /etc/profile.d/vte.sh: Permission denied

In the past it said "No file found", but I was able to fix that by using cp to copy vte-2.91.sh and naming the new file vte.sh. Here's what I get when I type ls -l:

-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 1945 Feb 14 15:53 vte.sh

Does anyone know how to fix this?

  • What are you trying to do with the file? Please edit and provide the correspondent line(s) from (presumably) your ~/.bashrc.

  • Is there a particular reason for you not to use the libvte9 package from the official repositories? Also available for GTK 3.0, see the libvte-2.91-0 package.

  • Run it with strace -f -o vte_script.strace /etc/profile.d/vte.sh and provide the output either here or via paste.ubuntu.com link. It should reveal where exactly error occurs
