文法
馬拉地語文法和其他現代印度-雅利安語言比如印地語、古吉拉特語、旁遮普語等共享著相似性。專門關注馬拉地語文法的第一本書在1805年由 William Kerry 出版。
馬拉地語不同其他印度-雅利安語言的一個不尋常特征是顯示了“包含和排它的我們”特征，共通於達羅毘荼語系、拉賈斯坦語和古吉拉特語。
不同於有關語言，馬拉地語保留了來自梵語的所有三個文法性(Linga)，陽性、陰性和中性。馬拉地語包含三個文法語態(prayog)，也就是 Kartari, Karmani 和 Bhave。
