Unable to run files on secondary hard drives
I'm newish to ubuntu and am having trouble running video, audio, games, etc that are located on secondary hard drives (i.e. not root - where Ubuntu 18.04 Lts is installed).
The drives and files are all visible, but if i click on them it doesn't run.
- Vlc gives an error (Your input can't be opened:
VLC is unable to open the MRL 'file:///*****) - Steam starts to load the game and then just stops (no error message - just nothing)
If I temporarily copy the video files from the mounted secondary hard drive to the main partition (desktop), everything works fine.
The hard drives and files are still formatted from my old windows install, which i didn't think would be a problem, but might be the issue. Or is it a permissions thing?
I have re downloaded some of the steam games into a fresh folder, but still the same thing happens (starts to load then nothing).
I've searched on and off for weeks and can't find a solution.
Any help appreciated!

"...are still formatted from my old windows install..." reformat your drive (Note this will delete the contents of the drive) if you don't use windows anymore. Also where is the drive mounted?

Thanks j-money. I was hoping not to have to reformat both my other hard drives as they are both almost full. But if it is the only way, it's the only way.
