Is there a term for the type of instrumental music of which: the musicians perform popular songs that originally had lyrics and vocals, but the singer's part has been replaced by an instrument, leaving the song exclusively instrumental?
I want to tell my Google Home to play instrumental music of this kind, but instead it typically plays pieces that are indeed exclusively instrumental, but they're not based on songs that originally had lyrics and vocal melody.
Yesterday, I submitted this same question here, and got some suggestions, I hope you don't mind me giving english.stackexchange.com a try also.
