Cannot get into the desktop

0

I type my password and login and it stays on my desktop wallpaper forever. I am pretty sure I type the right password because if it's wrong then it will tell me to type it again. My mouse can still move and I can get into the Virtual terminals by pressing Ctrl+Alt+F1.

Can anyone help me?

  • What Ubuntu version and which Desktop Environment do you use? Also sometimes I've seen something like this just happen randomly, and fixing itself with no further action after a reboot. So if you didn't do that already, try and log in through the TTY and type the reboot command.

  • I type: sudo dpkg --add-architecture i386, wget -nc dl.winehq.org/wine-builds/winehq.key sudo apt-key add winehq.key, sudo apt-add-repository 'deb dl.winehq.org/wine-builds/ubuntu xenial main' for download the wineHQ but it doesn't work. This is from wineHQ.org which is the official website
