Problem while booting Ubuntu from USB

-1

When I started booting from a USB flash drive I saw the ubuntu logo, but after that I saw this screen:

BusyBox v1.27.2 (Ubuntu 1:1.27.2-2ubuntu3) built-in shell (ash)
Enter 'help' for a list of built-in commands

(initramfs) Unable to find a medium containing a live file system

(initramfs)
(initramfs) help
Built-in commands:
------------------
. : [ alias break cd chdir command continue echo eval exec exit export false
getopts hash help history let local printf pwd read readonly return set shift
test times trap true type ulimit umask unalias unset wait [ [[ acpid ash awk
basename blockdev cat chmod chreot chvt clear cmp cp cut deallocvt deluser
devmem df du dumpkmar echo egrep env expr false fbset fgrep find fstrim grep
gunzip gzip hostname hwclock ifconfig ip kill In loadfont loadkmap ls lzop
kdir mkfifo mknod mkswap mktemp modinfo more mount mv openvt pidof printf ps
pwd readlink reset rm rmdir sed seq setkeycodes sh sleep sort stat static-sh
stty switch_root sync tail tee test touch tr true tty umount uname uniq wc wget
which yes
(initramfs)

What can I do?

  • That happens with some high-end Nvidia graphics cards, unsupported by the opens open source driver. You need to boot the installer and the installed system with nomodeset until the Nvidia proprietary drivers are installed.

Possible duplicate of Live USB for installation does not boot, visual artifacts on purple splash screen What error message, if any, do you see when you type exit at the (initramfs) prompt?

This also happens if the kernel can't boot for any reason... question is unclear
