Boot stops at grub prompt, can't find ubuntu partition

0

I'm struggling to boot Ubuntu.

I've had a working dual boot with Windows 10 and Ubuntu 18.04 for a couple months. However, I've suddenly encountered an issue where booting Ubuntu takes me to the grub 2 prompt.

grub>

I tried to running a boot-repair live USB no effect. My report is linked here. https://paste.ubuntu.com/p/nGx6PFCwnV/

I also looked at GParted, but I couldn't find my ~25 Gb Ubuntu partition.

This issue occurred after after booting Ubuntu, then Windows for about an hour, then booting Ubuntu again.

  • Thanks Fabby. I did not do a Windows Restore. While using windows I downloaded, edited, and re-uploaded a 4 gb sized files. I thought /dev/sdb1 was the usb I was running live from?

  • That should not have done anything to an Ubuntu Partition. The Ubuntu partition seems to be gone. The only thing left for you to do is to reinstall or to try the recovery options in the duplicate.
