Does anyone know why Ubuntu 18.04 with lightdm and nvidia-driver-390 hangs with black screen before login,...
With lightdm lsmod shows nvidia driver loaded. I can tty and log in. I can use primes-select and switch to intel graphics.
I installed some of the packages gdm3 brings with it ( tgir1.2-atspi-2.0 gir1.2-gck-1 gir1.2-gcr-3 gir1.2-upowerglib-1.0 gjs libgjs0g libmozjs-52-0 libxcb-res0), then I can use dpkg-reconfigure lightdm, and it will log in once with nvidia. But if I log out it is back to black screen.
I can get by with gdm3, but why? this seems like vodoo! I suspect that nvidia blob is not supporting lightdm.
I run a lenova y56-70 laptop with optimus, Using Custom LXDE desktop from ubuntu server 18.04-64.
I fouggt with it in a Bodhilinux install also but after giving up and some time passing by, the next time I tried, it installed, and worked.
