XFCE / Thunar mount / unmount problems

Multi tool use
Just installed Xubuntu 18.04 on my desktop computer and on a laptop.
While the desktop computer does work smooth and without problems, the laptop suddenly showed up problems, when mounting or unmounting volumes. This happens regardless, wether I want to mount USB-stick or USB harddisk etc. and it does not depend, wether I use USB-2 or USB-3 ports.
After connecting an USB device, it will immediately show up on desktop. But then it will last more than 20 seconds, until it will automount. During this time, I can go on working with thunar in every opened thunar window normally. After about 1 minute, thunar automatically opens a new window, showing the content of the fresh connected volume.
The major problem arises, when I unmount such a volume. And this behavior is independent, wether I unmount via click in the thunar window or wether I unmount via right click on desktop symbol.
After clicking unmount, immediately all thunar windows will be blocked and cannot be used by mouse or keyboard. But I can select by mouseclick between several thunar windows.
Further I cannot start a new thunar window from start menue. This situation will stay at about 20 or 30 seconds and then I get the message, that the volume cannot be unmounted because it would be in access. I have controlled this via terminal but no program does access the volume.
As I am uncertain in this situation, wether unmount is completed or not, I will have to wait. After about further 20 seconds, the unmount has success.
If I had more time, I could train my patience. :-)
But this bug could be dangerous with respect on data loss, when I am using my crypted USB harddisk (Veracrypt): If any bits would flip, I would loose access to very valuable data and had to use my backup.
As I am a beginner, I would not like to go "deep in the system". - What do you think: would it be helpfull, when I install Nautilus, then deinstall thunar, clean up system, reboot to install thunar again, deinstall Nautilus, reboot and clean up system again?
Or do you have some other ideas for me?
(If my english sounds funny, sorry I am German and I have tried my best. :-) )
