Terminal and Gui got stuck in login loop

Tomorrow I faced a power intrupt after which my Ubuntu got stuck in login loop.
I tried login using terminal but nothing happen....all that happen is that I redirected back to terminal login screen.
I have read and searched most sites and forums but nothing helped me.
