Ubuntu 14.04 hangs on shutdown! “Restoring resolver state…”

0

I'm running a Ubuntu 14.04 VM on my windows 10 machine. It was getting kind of slow during development so I decided to shut down. However, it's been stuck on this error for a while! I'm still quite a noob at linux so I'm unfamiliar with what to do or some of the suggestions I've found (not to mention I haven't found a post with the same problem as me).

Thanks!

The error is as follows:

 * Restoring resolver state...
[ 52.983029] CIFS VFS: Send error in SessSetup = -13 (this outputs x3)
[ 52.986126] CIFS VFS: cifs_mount failed w/return code = -13 (also outputs x3)

Couldn't copy and paste so I had to type it, the full error output is here:

Snippet of errors

  • EDIT: I waited 30 minutes and it seemed to just shut down? CIFS seems to be a network drive connection, so maybe it was just hanging and not responding? Either way I waited quite a while and it finally worked
