Tried to install PT7.2 , all files in /home are gone, all folders are empty

0

I tried to install pt7.2 then it asked for root p/w and suddenly all files are gone, folders:desktop, document, pictures,.. are empty. I dd copied the whole home partition (etx4) to a USB memory and tried to recover files by using TestDisk on another Linux pc. I could see some deleted files but could not recover any.
I appreciate any advice..// Thanks in advance
