ubuntu 18.04 my system does not find audio device

I tried all sort ways, followed recommendations. None helped. I cannot assign and find my audio speaker which is connected to a usb soundcard. Please help, i do not know how to proceed.

  • by now I have come to the point of understanding why i have trouble. I simply do not use HdmI as monitor, I use a D-Sub. Now, Pulseaudio defaults audio to HdmI and therefore i cannot use my usb-soundcard. Badly to say, for a newbie Ubuntu gives lots troubles for such simple problems. However, I do like the system but cannot solve it by myself. I guess I have to start learning all this terminal gimmics and shell stuff. I reinstalle already 3 times the entire system, but still cannot use it by means of audio output.
