Back up Ubuntu 16.04 and Windows 10 to external HDD
I am trying to back up an image of my Ubuntu and Windows OS to an external HDD. Right now, my laptop uses a dual boot.
I tried to create an NTFS partition to backup my Windows system and left the remaining memory unallocated.
When I switched to Ubuntu, I tried to use gparted to create another partition, but gparted was unable to read my device and displayed a lot of errors. I couldn't access the device using my filesystem either.
Are partitions unnecessary? Is it possible to save an image of Ubuntu in a format compatible with NTFS?
