Lenovo T580 touchpad accuracy / precision on Ubuntu 18.04

0

Okay so I've had a Lenovo E520 with various versions of Ubuntu installed since 2012. It's literally been around the world with me, strapped to my back, thrown, dropped, kicked and still going.

But the databases I now work with are increasingly larger, so speed has become an issue, so I've only recently upgraded to a Lenovo T580.

The problem I have is with the touchpad. It doesn't seem as accurate / precise. The only way I can explain it is: when I move the mouse to, for example, the X to close a window, it stops just short of the X - and my finger memory from 7 years of using the E520 clicks on the wrong place.

So I keep clicking in the wrong place when I move the mouse, which slows me down considerably.

I can't see anything obvious in the touchpad settings.

I tried using an external mouse and that works perfectly.

Any ideas?
