I'm writing a text role playing game.
Should I use "addresses" or "accosts" if a non player character starts speaking to the player character?
Example:
Narrative: "The gatekeeper addresses you with a deep voice." (Actual dialog here)
Or
Narrative: "The gatekeeper accosts you with a deep voice." (Actual dialog here)
Which should I use and why?
Thanks in advance.

Have you consulted a dictionary? Those words generally have different meanings. Is there something specific you'd like to know about their use?

Did you look up the two words in a dictionary? What did you find for the difference in meaning?

Have you looked up the meanings of "addresses" & "accosts" in an English dictionary? They have different meanings! If you haven't, then please do so, and then explain why you still don't understand the difference. Otherwise your Q. may be closed by moderators, e.g. for lack of research.
