No recovery mode menu after Gnu Grub

0

I am using Ubuntu 18.04 LTS on a Lenovo laptop. I can't boot properly. The Gnu Grub appears showing options Ubuntu / Advance Options / Boot Setup. After selecting Ubuntu or advance options >... Generic, no recovery menu appears. It only goes to a built in shell command line. What does this mean? I am worried I can't get into my files.
