ubuntu 18.04 -No wifi USB adapter found. I have drivers but cannot install
.everyoneloves__top-leaderboard:empty,.everyoneloves__mid-leaderboard:empty,.everyoneloves__bot-mid-leaderboard:empty{ margin-bottom:0;
}
I have tried every solution that i find in this forum but nothing works and now it appears I may be damaging the installation. Whenever I shut-down there a myriad of errors been shown on screen before it shuts off
I need WIFI. I can get wired connection, but it is quite undesirable at this time because of the efforts required to get it working.
the WIFI dongle is good because it works very well with Windows XP and Vista installations on this machine
in setting it says no WIFI adapter found
I download the drivers mt7601u (I ended up with 3 different downloads from different places and they are all in my Downloads folder
I am running Ubuntu 18.04. The commands I type in terminal, and result are below:

modinfo mt7601u
Are there any interesting messages if you try to load it?sudo modprobe mt7601u

I am new so obviously i dont really know what i am doing. I thought i saw a post with that instruction. i did sudo make install on the folder MT7601U in the Downloads folder. The result is: "make: *** No rule to make target 'install'. Stop.". So if the driver is already built in then how should i invoke it? and why is it still saying that the USB is unclaimed. How is it claimed? "*-usb UNCLAIMED description: Generic USB device product: 802.11 n WLAN vendor: MediaTek
