I'm writing documentation for program source code, and I'm wondering if use of amount of in

transfer amount of 'value' tokens from A to B

is valid, where 'value' is numerical variable. (e.g. 'value' is 7, transfer 7 tokens from A to B)

I think amount of 'value' and tokens both are noun phrase so these are cannot be used together, but the sentence sounds legit to me somehow.

  • if it was a fixed value, you would just write: 'transfer 7 tokens'. It will be hard to make grammatically correct, but you could just write "transfer 'value' number of tokens"

  • I'm not absolutely clear on what you are trying to say, but would "transfer tokens to the required value" be the answer?

  • @WS2 'value' is function argument from caller hence technically 'required', so yes. But to avoid confusion, I think 'requested' would fit better. thx you enlighted me
