Having a hard time installing xubuntu from ubuntu?
I originally had kubuntu, then changed to lubuntu from the command lines (Ctrl+Alt+F6) and then changed again to Ubuntu from the command lines and I am now running ubuntu 18.04.1, but am still seeing the lubuntu desktop.
I really dislike the desktop, want to completely remove all three systems and their packages and start completely anew with xubuntu. I have a bootable usb ready to go, I just don't know how to boot it and from where. I'm very lost in the lubuntu desktop. I ruined the CD compartment on My Toshiba Sattellite, so I can't use a CD to run the .iso file.

At login there is a gear logo you can click & select which DEsktop you want to login to that session. Clicking this lets you select Xubuntu, Lubuntu, Ubuntu or whatever other desktops you have installed. Having multiple though doesn't alter theplymouth(a graphic display used to hide the boot messages that scare most users) which usually is the last installed (even if later removed - it's only like a wallpaper & not related to the actual desktop/gui). It could be this you're noticing (ie. the graphic you see before you get the login prompt)

Ok, its good to know kubuntu isn't still taking up space. Idk, I'm really new to Ubuntu and am just freaking out over how different the desktop is from Windows 10. I miss factory data resets just putting everything back to how it was.
