Shoud I use an indefinite article before “enemy forces”?

"The soldiers gave themselves up in the face of a stronger enemy forces"

I saw this sentence in my textbook and I'd like to know if there is an error here? Shoud I really use an indefinite article before "enemy forces"? Is "forces" singular?

Forces is plural, and this is just a typo.
