  • To me that looks like an issue with the video/graphics card drivers, have you tried updating these drivers?

    – marko
    Mar 17 at 4:06

  • yes the drivers are up to date

    – navin
    Mar 17 at 4:09

  • I still think it's a display driver issue. What driver are you using? In a terminal, could you please type sudo lshw -class video | grep driver= and tell us what it says?

    – marko
    Mar 17 at 4:17

  • It says, configuration: driver=nouveau latency=0. sorry for late reply

    – navin
    Mar 17 at 4:29

  • You can try installing the proprietary driver. Run software-properties-gtk --open-tab=4 and there should be an entry called "NVIDIA" with (proprietary, tested)" at the end. Select that and see how you go. After installation, you need to restart your computer. If after installation, your graphical environment does not start, from the command line, type: sudo apt remove nvidia* and that should take you back to where you started - using the "nouveau" driver.

  • To me that looks like an issue with the video/graphics card drivers, have you tried updating these drivers?

    – marko
    Mar 17 at 4:06

  • yes the drivers are up to date

    Mar 17 at 4:09

  • I still think it's a display driver issue. What driver are you using? In a terminal, could you please type sudo lshw -class video | grep driver= and tell us what it says?

    – marko
    Mar 17 at 4:17

  • It says, configuration: driver=nouveau latency=0. sorry for late reply

I installed Ubuntu 18.04 (AMD 64bit) few days ago.

It works correctly, but sometimes Ubuntu hangs for 3-6 sec and the screen collapses like this

Ubuntu collapse image

After that, I have to press the power button to restart my desktop.

My Desktop Spec:

  • Motherboard: asustek M4N68T-M-v2

  • Processor: AMD Phenom(tm) II X2 560

  • Monitor: Samsung syncmaster SA10

  • GPU: NVIDIA GeForce 7025

  • more detailed

Results of sudo lshw :

I installed Ubuntu 18.04 (AMD 64bit) few days ago.

It works correctly, but sometimes Ubuntu hangs for 3-6 sec and the screen collapses like this

Ubuntu collapse image

After that, I have to press the power button to restart my desktop.

My Desktop Spec:

  • Motherboard: asustek M4N68T-M-v2

  • Processor: AMD Phenom(tm) II X2 560

  • Monitor: Samsung syncmaster SA10

  • GPU: NVIDIA GeForce 7025

  • more detailed

Results of sudo lshw :

  • To me that looks like an issue with the video/graphics card drivers, have you tried updating these drivers?

    – marko
    Mar 17 at 4:06

  • yes the drivers are up to date

You can try installing the proprietary driver.
