I messed up down loading disco [on hold]

what do i do to restore,if its even possible,to former 18.10? Nothing works now.Back ups don't work screen jumps sound card is out of whack.I have tried several codes put keep coming up short. Any suggestions?
Some of what I've tried, keep in mind I'm sort of new to this stuff so some just got me lost.



Command-line utility to install/remove/update packages based on APT system.



create/modify/extract from archives



autoreconf,autoscan,autoupdate



Copy files from and to archives



dosfsck

    Sorry I'm not sure what you're after. You want to restore yourself to a prior point? This would need knowledge of your backup strategy obviously; and a clear understanding of what you did & how, and what you've done since.
