Under the rule of an emperor
I'm writing a story about a girl who grew up in 1930's japan and when the war started her father had to smuggle them out. I wanted to make a note about her fathers view of the emperors ruling ability but i didn't know how to phrase it.
I wanted to say under "emporial" rule like other countries were under British "imperial" rule but that clearly didn't sound right.
Is there a word for what i'm trying to say or am i going to have to explain it in long form? Do they have a name for it in Japanese?
